usable, beautiful

These pots are made to be held, to be used daily, to bring a sense of calm to your space. Each possesses a soft, functional form, but their surfaces are alive with sweeping brushstrokes, dancing lines and ever-present circles.

My interest in everyday marks is deep rooted, for as long as I can remember patterns in my environment have intrigued me. I’d find faces in fabric and woodwork, and maps on the surface of pebbles. In the final year of my degree I became fascinated with the surfaces of my grandfather’s collection of gardening tools. The repetition of circles and lines in his watering can roses and sieves held a simple beauty, the faded colours of the sun-bleached tools told of objects well used and treasured. Interpreting these surfaces through playful mark-making became the starting point for my abstract designs.

Now my patterns evolve intuitively, and have become a constant exploration between the restrained and the expressive, pushing the boundaries of slip decorating techniques. I find myself increasingly drawn to the landscape around me, and the East Anglian fields, sun and sky are echoed in the earthy greys, greens and yellows that adorn these pots.

I hope you enjoy exploring the collection!
